Transformers GDO Figures Found at TRU

October 2nd, 2012

October is starting off right! Today I visited my local Toys R Us store and found me some GDO figures. These went up on toysrus.com last week. When I found out, Springer and Wheelie were already sold out. I did manage to order Swerve and Cliffjumper, but I was starting to worry that I missed out on the rest. This week they’re not even listed on the website anymore. So I was super happy when I saw them in store! Check out the pics I took on my phone.

I really like the look of the GDO packaging. The Chinese writing really adds that extra something. All these figures are repaints, but the Deluxe figures all have new head molds. The new paint schemes on some of the Scout figures look quite good as well. So even though I have every single one of these molds, I still wanted most of these. For a long time they were Asia only, and I’m glad TRU is able to bring them out here as exclusives.

For the Deluxe size figures, Wheelie appears to be the most rare. On the website, he was the first to be sold out, and in store there was only 1 of him and 2 or 3 of the rest. Same goes for Brawl of the Scout figures.

Anyway, I left the store with Brawl, Wheelie, and Springer (most bottom pic above, taken in the trunk of my car). Like I said, I got Swerve and Cliffjumper already. In that same order I also got Laserbeak. This means the only ones I decided against were Dead End and Sandstorm. I’m not too impressed with that Dead End mold (I have Oil Slick). And I already have 2 of the Sandstorm mold (as Dune Runner and Beachcomber).

It’s a good feeling to finally find some new TFs. That hasn’t happened for some time. Now I’m hoping to find some GDO Voyagers, and the US version of MP Optimus.

What does GDO stand for anyway? Girl’s Day Out? Garage Door Opener? We may never know. But know this… head to Toys R Us now before they disappear! Transform and Roll Out!

GDO? Makes me think Stargate SG-1.

They look interesting, might think of picking up a figure or two from this set.

Sorry I’m not too familiar with Stargate. I come across it every so often and it looks interesting, but they show it at the weirdest times…

The Deluxe molds are all pretty good, though the characters chosen are questionable (Wheelie and Swerve?). Still, I think the new head molds make them worth buying.

And I realized just now that the Dead End color scheme is really Wildrider. Wonder why they don’t just call him Wildrider? And now that I see it, maybe I’ll get this after all, if he’s still there…

GDO oddly enough has been refferred to as “Garage Door Opener” in Stargate SG-1, it transmits a code through the gate to the SGC which opens the Iris around the Stargate.

I wish they’d do a Deluxe Stunticon set just like FOC Bruticous, that’d be great.

Yeah it would be great if Hasbro does one. But for now I guess we can look forward to FansProject’s rendition of the Not-Stunticons 🙂

Nice. Mine shipped already. I question their choice on wheelie being a deluxe. Such an annoying character should always be a scout. An Arcee figure would’ve been a better choice and preferably with a new mold altogether. The FP stunticons looks good and I don’t know if I mentioned to you before how I don’t like that they have 2 Lamborghini’s in the team. One of them should have been a Ferrari F12 berlinetta or california.

yeah Arcee would be totally cool. There still isn’t an official Hasbro one for the CHUG line.

I looked at those FP stunticons pics more carefully. Breakdown is obviously a Lambo, which is good. What’s Dead End and Wildrider? Are they Lambos too? Are they repaints of each other? That’s not cool. They need to be unique molds!

It was just digibashes you saw on that link. They will all be unique molds. Based on the combined mode silhouette, I’m hoping that Dead End will be based on the Porsche 918 Spyder. The other lambo, the funky looking one, is the Ankion concept. I hope they do away with that one and put in the Berlinetta. I want a Ferrari Wildrider.
